This back in time moment is brought to you by one scared little bitch ass white boy in the 5th Grade!

So the day that Big B. gives me an invite to post about the Old School Friday videos, I see this special on MTV2 today titled... "1988: The Year That Hip Hop Broke"

"Run-DMC (Who's House... Run's House)", NWA, Salt N Peppa, Ice-T, Ice Cube, Public Enemy, Ultramagnetic MC's, Big Daddy Kane, Biz Markee, Eric B. and Rakim... Just to name a few...

What they broke or if they were trying to say "Broke Out" I don't know. I do know that there were so many artists and matching videos on YouTube that I almost went nuts and posted all of them as they aired on the show. However I leave you with a video from an artist that got me into trouble. I was a skinny white kid who didn't fit in with the Chicano's and didn't like the prep scene. I sure as hell wasn't going to mess around with the scary black folk either. 1988 brought on some bullshit between me and a girl and all I remember my mom being worried about when I was at school was that I didn't do drugs or hang out with those that did.

Another thing that I remember was the movie Colors came out and all I can remember about that era was worrying about not wearing the wrong fucking clothes either by color, or the fucking label. Remember BK (British Knights) shoes. "Don't fucking wear those to school, they stand for Blood Killers" said my friend.
So I tried my best and managed not to get shot or get my ass kicked for wearing the wrong shit.

So back to the video. I had a cousing (Super Whitey Chick) who listened to this music and first introduced me to it by letting me listen to Too Short's Cusswords. WTF was she thinking. Anyway another CD tape that she had was N.W.A.'s Straight Outta Compton and I remember really REALLY liking this song.

Enjoy,
C.B.
